The first ten minutes decide whether this is a cleaning or a new laptop. Do these in order, now.

What to do

ما ينبغي فعله

1. Turn it off now. Hold the power button until everything goes dark. Do not shut down the normal way, do not save your work, do not wait.
2. Unplug the charger. If the battery comes out without tools, take it out.
3. Open the lid as far as it goes and turn the whole thing upside down like a tent, on a towel. You want the liquid to drain out through the keyboard, not further in.
4. Leave it like that. Do not use rice, which does nothing and leaves starch in the keyboard. Do not use a hairdryer, which drives moisture into the board and can warp plastics.
5. Do not turn it on to check, not even for a second. Power on a wet board is what causes the permanent damage. The liquid itself mostly does not.

1. أطفئه الآن، واضغط زر التشغيل حتى يظلم كلّ شيء، ولا تُغلقه بالطريقة المعتادة ولا تحفظ عملك ولا تنتظر.
2. افصل الشاحن، وإن كانت البطارية تخرج دون أدوات فأخرجها.
3. افتح الغطاء إلى أقصاه واقلب الجهاز كلّه كالخيمة على منشفة، فالمطلوب أن يخرج السائل عبر لوحة المفاتيح لا أن يتوغّل أعمق.
4. اتركه كذلك، ولا تستعمل الأرزّ فهو لا يفعل شيئاً ويترك نشاءً في لوحة المفاتيح، ولا مجفّف الشعر فهو يدفع الرطوبة إلى اللوحة وقد يشوّه البلاستيك.
5. لا تشغّله لتتأكّد ولا حتى لثانية، فالتيار على لوحة مبلّلة هو ما يسبّب التلف الدائم، أمّا السائل نفسه فنادراً ما يفعل.
