My phone says storage is full

هاتفي يقول إنّ التخزين ممتلئ

It is almost always photos and video, and you can free most of it without deleting anything you want.

What to do

  1. Look at the breakdown before deleting anything. On iPhone it is Settings, General, iPhone Storage. On Android it is Settings, Storage. It shows exactly what is taking the space.
  2. Videos are the big one. A single minute of high quality video is bigger than a hundred photos. Sort the camera roll by videos first.
  3. Turn on cloud photos with optimise storage. iCloud Photos on iPhone, Google Photos on Android. Full quality goes to the cloud and the phone keeps a small copy. This alone usually frees the most space.
  4. Check WhatsApp. Its media folder is often several gigabytes of forwarded videos. In WhatsApp, Settings, Storage and Data, Manage Storage shows the largest ones.
  5. Offload apps you have not opened in months. On iPhone that option is under each app in iPhone Storage and keeps your data. On Android just uninstall and reinstall later if needed.

These are the usual causes and the safe order to check them, not a diagnosis of your machine. If a step does not match what you are seeing, stop and ask.
